Mater Children’s Hospitals appoint new Nursing Director

Sue McKee was appointed as the new Nursing Director at Mater Children’s Hospitals in 2009.

Ms McKee has more than 25 years clinical nursing experience across both the public and private hospital sectors.

At the time of her appointment Mater Health Services Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services, Adjunct Associate Professor Debra Moen welcomed Ms McKee to the role.

“Sue is an experienced nurse of great skill who brings with her a dynamic approach to health care that makes her ideal for the role,” she said.

“It’s a pleasure to welcome her to Mater.”

Ms McKee has a solid background in change management, financial performance and clinical, service and cultural improvement.

Her most recent position was the General Manager and Director of Nursing at Calvary Private Hospital and Peri-operative Services Manager of Calvary Healthcare ACT, a collocated facility.

During this time Ms McKee was responsible for providing leadership, management and strategic direction across the clinical, financial and operational aspects of the facility.

Additional previous appointments include Director of Clinical Services at Nambour Selangor Private Hospital and Quality Improvement Officer for Mayne Health on the Sunshine Coast.

Ms McKee commenced her early nursing career at Nambour General Hospital and holds a Bachelor of Science (Applied Human Movement studies) from The University of Queensland, an MBA from Queensland University of Technology and is currently undertaking a Graduate Certificate in Leadership (Catholic Culture) from the Australian Catholic University.

She is a member of the Royal College of Nursing Australia, the Australian Institute of Management and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
