About

For more than a century, Mater Health Services has upheld the Mission of the Sisters of Mercy—to provide compassionate care to the sick and needy according to the Values of mercy, dignity, care, commitment and quality.

Over that time, Mater has earned its place in the hearts of many people and has become a much loved part of the community.

Annual Review 2009

To ensure we continue our commitment to meet the health care needs of the community, Mater has developed business strategies within our not-for-profit framework, which address the issues of financial, social and environmental sustainability. These strategies focus holistically on Mater’s role as a health care provider, as an employer and as a contributor to the broader community.

This website has been developed in accord with these strategies, and complements a summary document printed on recycled paper.

Our growing community is supported by Mater Adult Hospital, Mater Children’s Hospital and Mater Mothers’ Hospital. Private services are provided by Mater Private Hospital Brisbane, Mater Private Hospital Redland, Mater Mother’s Private Hospital and Mater Children’s Private Hospital—the only private children’s hospital in Queensland.

Mater Health Services also runs Pathology and Pharmacy businesses, conducts world-class research through its hospitals and the Mater Medical Research Institute and extends a range of services to the community.

Under the board’s leadership and the ongoing support of the Mercy congregation, the Mater remains committed to meeting the needs of the community in line with the Mission and Values of the Sisters of Mercy.
